Two Detentions in the Aftermath of Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Attack

The assault resulted in the temporary closure of the CTA tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking area.

An additional two individuals have been arrested in connection with a robbery at Heathrow Airport in which 21 people sustained injuries by what is thought to be an irritant spray, according to police.

A man, 24, was arrested in the Lambeth area on suspicion of theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals are still being held, the force said.

These detentions follow a probe into an assault at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Prior to the attack, a pair of female travelers had stolen from them their suitcases upon exiting a parking garage elevator.

A three-year-old girl was among the those hurt in the event. Five people were taken to the hospital for treatment and were later discharged.

Police arrested a 31-year-old man for suspected theft and assault near the scene. He was subsequently released under investigation as the investigation proceeds.

Authorities were called at approximately 08:10 GMT following reports of several individuals injured by an irritating chemical believed to be an irritant spray.

The attack - an event that police said was a standalone incident and not being treated as an act of terror - resulted in delays to rail services and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 car park briefly.
